CRANET RESEARCH NETWORK

Welcome to the CRANET Research Network

The Network is an established research collaboration with a proven track record of collecting powerful, representative data from countries across the globe on best practices and comparative performance in human resource management.

The CRANET Research Network, or CRANET for short, launched in 1989 to meet the need for ready access to information on best practices and comparative performance in human resource management (HRM) within Europe. Now global in scale, CRANET is an established research collaboration with a proven track record of collecting powerful, representative data, on a continuing basis; undertaking rigorous analysis, and disseminating high-quality results.

Coordinated by the Cranfield School of Management until 2020, CRANET is now affiliated with the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State within the Center for International Human Resource Studies. CRANET is the acknowledged leader in all aspects of international human resource management, both theoretical and practical. It offers academics, practitioners, government bodies, and international institutions informed research as well as guidance on international and comparative HRM practices.

The Network itself is a collaboration between universities and business schools across 50 countries. This collaboration allows CRANET to:

  • Carry out a regular international comparative survey of organizational policies and practices in comparative HRM across the world.
  • Provide benchmarks for comparing individual countries with developments elsewhere in the world. This allows a systematic comparative analysis of HRM trends within employing organizations.
  • Disseminate research findings through news items, practitioner press, academic journals, and books, as well as through conferences and seminars and in teaching.
